Hello I'm Steve, I was motivated to start this provision due to my own personal experiences, as young person I went through School with unidentified dyslexia, which meant that my experience at School was not as enjoyable and valuable as it should have been.
I found out I was dyslexic later in life, which actually helped me a lot. I then began a career in helping and supporting young people. I began as a Mentor in a Youth Offending team, and then worked as a Boxing and Personal development Coach. Upon achieving my PGCE I became a Health and Social Care lecturer in a FE College, most recently for 4 years I was PSHE lead and Teacher in a SEND School where the majority of the Pupils in the School had an EHCP and often displayed challenging behaviours, stemming from a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
I have been described as being Calm, Reassuring,
Non-judgemental and Northern.
I have 15 years of experience working with fantastic young people, who for a variety of reasons were not having the life experience they would like and deserve.
I know that between the ages of 11 and 25 it can very often be a sensitive and difficult chapter in a persons life.
My ambition is to help people navigate their way through this chapter by enabling and empowering them to recover, succeed and achieve their goals, prioritising health and wellbeing.
PGCE in FE, Huddersfield University (Graded ‘A’ for demonstrating outstanding teaching practice) Part of the criteria needed to be met involved me researching and delivering a specialist conference which I focused upon the ‘The Gender Imbalance in Health and Social Care.
